ILKLEY Manor House is delighted to present not one but two captivating coffee morning talks this month.

The talks have a medieval theme and promise to provide attendees with a unique opportunity to delve into the rich historical tapestry of medieval art and architecture.

The first talk on Friday, June 23, will feature the talented Tanya Bentham, who will discuss and explain her remarkable medieval embroidery artwork. Tanya's unique creations have garnered acclaim for their intricate designs, attention to detail, and use of medieval techniques. Attendees can view Tanya's skill firsthand as she discusses her artistic process, influences, and the hilarious 'Easter eggs' in some of her pieces.

On Friday, June 30, Dr Edward Impey will deliver an enthralling presentation titled 'A Towering Success? The redisplay of Clifford's Tower, York.'

Dr Impey's background as former Master of the Armouries and Director General of the Royal Armouries makes him the ideal speaker for this occasion. Attendees can look forward to gaining valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs associated with the redisplay of Clifford's Tower, an iconic medieval structure in the historic city of York. Dr Impey's talk promises to shed light on the complexities of preserving and showcasing medieval architectural marvels in the modern age.

Both talks will commence promptly at 10:30am, and attendees should arrive at 10:15am to ensure a timely start. Each presentation will last approximately one hour, with time for a question-and-answer session at the end.

Tickets for these talks are available for £3 at the Box Office when Ilkley Manor House is open; Saturdays and Sundays, 11am - 4pm. Alternatively, attendees can purchase tickets online via Eventbrite. There is the option to view the talks for free via Zoom. These spaces can only be reserved online. Visit ilkleymanorhouse.org for details.
