An independent funeral service  - launched in Guiseley in 2016 by a former NHS surgeon - will open a new site in Ilkley next week.

Full Circle Funerals was founded by Dr Sarah Jones, who wanted to create a modern funeral care service focused on supporting wellbeing following bereavement.

Since opening its doors in Guiseley, Full Circle Funerals has expanded into Bramley and Harrogate. Sarah said the site in Ilkley is being opened in response to a recognition that many people from Ilkley and surrounding villages were travelling to Guiseley to use the service.

Sarah said: “We hope this new service will make it easier for people in and around Ilkley and Burley in Wharfedale to use our support, whether they are arranging a funeral for someone else or looking for support to explore their own funeral wishes and funeral planning.

“As with all our services, the interiors of the new premises have been inspired by nature and designed to support wellbeing."

Full Circle Funerals was the first UK funeral director to become a B Corp, recognising the business’s commitment to positive environmental and social impact. The firm was shortlisted for a national Purpose Before Profit award in last year’s Lloyds Better Society Awards and has been named Funeral Director of the Year and Green Funeral Director of the Year by the Good Funeral Guide.

Sarah is the author of Funerals Your Way: A Person Centred Approach to Planning a Funeral, which is now in its second edition and is stocked at The Grove Bookshop in Ilkley.

Sarah said: “We feel it is important to give people personalised support and to make it easy for them to arrange exactly the kind of funeral they want, depending on what is important to them or the person who has died.

“We are very much looking forward to being part of the community in Ilkley and we are grateful for the warmth we have already received from fellow businesses and local people ahead of the opening.”

Full Circle Funerals is opening its doors at 38 Leeds Road, Ilkley, on Thursday 4th May and is inviting local residents and businesses to pop in between 4pm and 6pm for drinks, nibbles and to meet the team.
