ILKLEY and Keighley MP Robbie Moore has co-sponsored a new bill in Parliament that would see individuals found complicit in Child sexual abuse barred from public office.
The bill would mean that anyone found by authorities to have facilitated, enabled, or turned a blind eye to child sexual abuse would be banned from holding any public office, position of authority, or job paid by taxpayer funds.
The bill was presented to the House of Commons by Rotherham MP Alexander Stafford who said: “Only once we have scourged these villains from our public bodies can the healing process begin, and justice be brought to the victims and their families."
Mr Moore said: "I am proud to co-sponsor this bill, which is another step on the long road to justice for the victims and families of victims of Child Sexual Abuse.
"Following the Prime Minister’s tough Tackling Child Sexual Abuse Strategy published earlier this month, it is time to make sure that anyone who enables these vile and horrific crimes is barred from ever holding public office again.
"I will never stop fighting for the victims of Child sexual abuse and child sexual exploitation in my capacity as Keighley and Ilkley’s Member of Parliament."
