A FIRE broke out at a pub in the early hours of this morning (April 11).

A tumble dryer on the ground floor of the Ilkley Moor Vaults, on Stockeld Road, caused the fire.

Crews from Ilkley, Silsden and Otley initially responded to a report at 12.43am of smoke coming from a door leading to the cellar of the pub.

When they arrived, crews passed a priority message to increase the attendance to four fire engines and then five shortly after.

Additional fire engines from Keighley and Shipley were mobilised, said West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Four breathing apparatus were used at the scene, two hose reels were used to extinguish the fire, while positive-pressure ventilation fans were used to clear the smoke.

Specialist foam crews were also mobilised from Hunslet Fire Station, but were stood down.
