FRIENDS of Airedale charity has donated a supply of colouring packs to Ward 5 as part of a new initiative aimed at helping stroke patients improve their fine motor skills and dexterity.
The presentation was made by FoA chairman John Lofthouse who gave the packs to occupational rherapist Nathan Cox on behalf of patients.
John said: “We were approached by the occupational health specialists who were keen to set up a new initiative to help people who have had a stroke to recover some of their co-ordination skills. While it is a relatively low-cost project, the impact on patients can be considerable and also helps them to pass their time in hospital.”
FoA is a group of volunteers dedicated to supporting Airedale General Hospital. It also raises money to buy equipment to benefit patients and in the past has donated between £150,000 to £200,000 worth of equipment and services to the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust each year.
