NINE-year-old Alex Tigg, of Ben Rhydding, is sporting a trendy new haircut after having her long hair re-styled so she could make a donation to the Little Princess Trust.

Alex, of Ben Rhydding, and a pupil of Ilkley All Saints’ Primary School, heard about donating hair after she had planned to have her own hair trimmed and decided it would be nice to help someone she didn’t know. She has had more than 12 inches cut from her hair to send to the charity which provides free-of-charge real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as alopecia.

Alex also wanted to raise money for the Little Princess Trust and set up a fundraising page with a target of £500.

But that was soon overtaken and to date has raised £739 with money still coming in. She said she wanted to thank all those who have donated so generously to her page which is still open if anyone would like to make a donation.

What’s more, Alex may even make another donation of her own in the future as she hasn’t ruled out growing her hair back and donating all over again.
