TEN-MAN Guiseley lost 3-2 to Hyde United in a bad-tempered game at Nethermoor Park on Saturday.

Guiseley saw yellow seven times and Kareem Hassan-Smith was handed a straight red on his debut.

There were few chances early on and the Lions won the first corner of the game on 12 minutes. Unfortunately, it came to nothing.

Guiseley's first chance came on 15 minutes when Jake Cassidy placed the ball well at the feet of Lewis Whitham whose shot rolled just wide.

Shortly after Kareem Hassan-Smith was shown a yellow card, Guiseley earned a penalty on 20 minutes when Kallan Murphy was brought down in the Hyde box.

Whitham's spot kick was saved but Callum Chippendale was on hand to smash home the rebound to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.

In the 22nd minute, the visitors won a free kick in a dangerous position. However, the effort was hit straight at Guiseley's wall.

The visitors equalised in the 27th minute when striker Will Russ lost his marker, turned and fired home.

The game then saw three bookings Chippendale Hyde United's Liam Tongue and Jack Redshaw were yellow carded.

Guiseley went down to ten men when they lost Hassan-Smith to a straight red card on 40 minutes.

The straight red saw Hyde awarded a penalty which Redshaw converted to make it 2-1, giving the Lions plenty to do in the second half.

Guiseley changed things at half time as Ekow Coker came on for Cassidy.

In the 54th minute, the visitors had the first corner of the second half but the ball was blasted over into the car park.

Five minutes later, the Lions earned a corner which it also did not come to fruition.

A minute later Ross Daly was booked, giving the visitors a free kick.

In the 66th minute, the Lions made another change as Adam Haw replaced Chippendale.

The visitors reply with a change of their own as Manasse Mampala was replaced by Edy Maieco.

In the 73rd minute, the Tigers made their pressure pay when Redshaw rolled the ball to Tongue on the edge of the box.

The Hyde midfielder hit a bullet strike into the bottom corner of the net.

A minute later, the referee awarded a foul after Jameel Ible was yellow carded for reacting to a Hyde player.

On 80 minutes, Guiseley was handed another yellow card, this time for a late challenge by Leigh Whelan.

Shortly after captain George Smith was shown a yellow card.

The Lions then brought on Angus Chapman for Murphy.

With five minutes left in full-time, the Lions earned a free kick in a dangerous position but it came to nothing.

On 86 minutes, Haw pulled one back for the Lions from outside the box.

His strike deflected off a defender and went past the helpless goalkeeper.

The final Lions' booking came in the 90th minute when Coker was booked.

Despite four minutes added on time, Guiseley could not find a way through the Hyde defence and lost 3-2.
