VISITORS to the Festival of Stamps at Ben Rhydding Methodist Church will able to see a reminder England's last World Cup triumph.

Church member Brian Herring has a rich collection of first day cover stamps going back many years and it includes the stamp issued to commemorate England’s victory in 1966. Commemorative stamps are full of interest both artistically and in terms of the events they celebrate. They form part of a wide ranging collection of stamps provided by members of Leeds Philatelic Society. The Society was founded in 1890 and members are providing six themed displays to provide insight into the world of stamps, stamp collecting and postal services. They are delighted they will be meeting pupils from Ben Rhydding and Ashlands on three mornings during the Festival. For their part some of the children including members of the Ben Rhydding Beavers Unit will be providing their own designs for a stamp fit for the new King. The Festival takes place at Ben Rhydding Methodist church from Tuesday, December 6 to Friday, December 9 from 2pm to 4pm and Saturday, December 10 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm. Admission is free, refreshments will available and all are welcome.
