IT'S that time of year again and our steadfast volunteers are giving up their valuable time to help put up the many Christmas features to ensure Burley in Wharfedale’s renowned display continues to delight everyone.

The work takes place over several weekends preceding the Christmas Light switch on which this year is Saturday 26th November.

Other local towns and villages already have their features in place as they are contracted out but Burley in Wharfedale continues its tradition of being community led and giving volunteers young and old the chance to help out.

A local hostelry (which incidentally raises a large amount of money each year for the Christmas Lights) has had a nasty anonymous letter criticising the fact their lights are being put up so early, so we would like in response to say the amount of work involved is so great we have no option but to start the work when we do. The Christmas Lights will not be actually lit until the switch on date and as always will be turned off by Twelfth Night.

We hope to see everyone at the Burley in Wharfedale Christmas Lights switch on 4.30pm Saturday, November 26 when there will be a wealth of activities for all the family including a Street Market, Craft Fair, rides, a visit from Santa etc.
