A DEVELOPER has applied for planning permission to build 14 homes on green belt land in Addingham.

Leeds based planning and development consultants Johnson Mowat have submitted an outline application to Bradford Council on behalf of their client for the residential development of land at Parsons Lane/Turner Lane in the village, requesting consideration of access.

As part of its community consultation Johnson Mowat says a leaflet was distributed to approximately 200 properties within the vicinity of the 0.61 hectare site, as well as key stakeholders such as local councillors and the local MP, in March. It contained an overview summary of the proposal together with a site layout plan. The leaflet invited community comments and directed residents to a dedicated website for the proposed development.

On the website Johnson Mowat says: "The site is currently designated as Green Belt; however, it has been identified as a ‘Preferred Option’ (ADH1/H) for residential development in the emerging Bradford District Local Plan (LP). Within the emerging LP the Application Site is identified as having the potential to deliver 20 no. residential dwellings. However, following the receipt of recent public representations re. traffic generation, our client has looked to significantly reduce the overall quantum of development.

"At this stage our client is only looking to establish 1) the Principle of Development, and 2) the suitability of the access point from Turner Lane. The scheme has been carefully designed to ensure that existing trees and hedgerows can be retained, and also aligns with the policy provisions set out in the Addingham Neighbourhood Plan."

The proposal is for 14 two and three storey houses with different floor areas and layouts.

These include: five bedroom detached homes (four); two bedroom semi-detached affordable homes (two); three bedroom semi-detached affordable homes (two); three bedroom semi-detached homes (two); three bedroom detached homes (four).

Addingham Planning Scrutiny Group - an informal group of private individuals aiming to secure high standards of planning in the area - is urging people to have their say on the application online at planning.bradford.gov.uk/online-applications. The application's reference number is 22/03295/MAO. Comments must be made before September 5.

At the time of going to press there had been three comments objecting to the planning application.
