OLD Otliensians RUFC, with the support of Otley RUFC, are hosting a Prince Henry's Grammar School (PHGS) Rugby fundraising event on Saturday, July 2.

Seventy-five per cent of any profits from the Touch & Pass festival will go to the PHGS Rugby Fund which pays for vital kit, equipment, and logistical costs for the Rugby teams across school. The remaining 25 per cent will be donated evenly to the Rob Burrow MND fund, and the Doddie Weir MND fund.

There will be a 7-a-side junior section, featuring PHGS and local club teams from U12 to U15 (Years 7 to 10). There will also be a 10-a-side senior section, featuring PHGS and local clubs/organisations from U16s upwards.

The event costs £3 for each spectator who is over 18. Under 18s free. Refreshments will be available and there will also be a raffle. The day begins at 11am and continues until 4pm.

“It’s brilliant to be able to run this event, after a few years off fundraising. It would be fantastic to have a good crowd for the students (and some teachers!) who are taking part – come along and join us and have some fun, while raising money for some great causes,” said Chris Smith, Faculty Leader in English and First XV Coaching Team Member, who is organising the event.

Yorkshire Pro-Paving Company Director, Tom Armitage, said he was happy to support the inaugural PHGS Touch and Pass Rugby Festival: "We've supported the PHGS Boxing Day rugby fundraiser for several years and being main sponsor of the summer festival shows our commitment to the local community and causes. As an ex-student of PHGS and with my own children at the school, I am pleased Yorkshire Pro-Paving can support an event like this."

Parking for the event is available at Old Otliensians (located at the end of the narrow road alongside Stephen H Smith’s Garden Centre, where further parking is available).
