THE Bramhope and Carlton Honorary Citizen award for 2022 was presented at the Annual Village Meeting to Janet Hobson of Bramhope in Bloom.
This was the very first time the award has been given. As Councillor Hilary Harris, chair of the Council said: "The Parish Council is very aware of the significant contribution that individuals and groups make to the life of the community. So in November 2021 the Parish Council created the annual honorary citizen award. Nominations were requested in the newsletter. It is very pleasing that several nominations were received, testimony to the many activities that make Bramhope and Carlton better places to live. A secret ballot was held to choose the first ever honorary citizen, and the undoubted winner was Janet."
The award was presented by Cllr Harris. Janet expressed her thanks for the award and also to the residents who initiated Bramhope in Bloom, and all the volunteers, including Duke of Edinburgh Award candidates who work tirelessly around the village to keep planted areas looking so good.
