1st Burley Brownies and their leaders are proud to announce that their 2022 Bookmark Project is now open. The online auction of celebrity, author and illustrator doodled bookmarks has almost 500 lots and has now been running for six years. Over that time the auction has raised £25,000 to support projects at Katiyo Primary School in Zimbabwe including building toilet blocks, installing electricity, buying furniture, textbooks and other classroom resources to name a few.

Leader Sharon Hattersley said: "We are currently raising the money needed to build a nursery classroom at the school and think we are approximately £7000 or so from the target funds we need.

"Every year the Brownies write to their favourite authors and illustrators and ask them to create a bookmark for the project which is then added to the auction. This year's bookmarks are donated by many well known names and faces including Axel Scheffler, Julia Donaldson, Ian McKellen, Jo Brand, Mark Rylance, Neil Gaiman, Sophie Kinsella and Julian Clary."

The auction runs until 7pm on Monday, May 23 and you can bid here: www.jumblebee.co.uk/bookmarkproject2022
