EARBY CRICKET CLUB have announced that former England Women's international, Arran Brindle, has been appointed captain of the first team for the forthcoming campaign.

She is replacing Jake Hargreaves, who has left the club and signed for Baxenden as their professional.

Unfortunately due to commitments in Sri Lanka, Earby's original professional for the season Santhush Gunathilake is no longer able to travel to the UK as he has just been called up to the Sri Lanka Emerging Team for their tour to England at the start of May.

Earby instead replaced him with South African fast bowler Zakhele Qwabe who plays for GBet Rocks (Boland) in all formats of the game and they will be looking forward to him joining them as soon as possible, once he has received his visa.

Alongside their new overseas amateur Jandre Viljoen, also from South Africa and the return of both Craig and Chris Walton from Steeton and Colne, the club are looking forward to the season starting.

A trip to Oswaldtwisle Immanuel awaits Earby and their news stars this Saturday (April 23).
