ILKLEY and District Petanque Association has received a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to enable phase two of the work on the new petanque court in the Ilkley Riverside Gardens to commence.
A spokesperson for the association said: "Whilst the terrain is able to be used now, the works will include an access path linking into the existing park network, together with a turning point, both of which will provide much better access for the less-abled.
"In addition a notice board is being commissioned to provide the relevant club information and contact details and a flagpole together with a Yorkshire and Normandy flag to further cement the relationship with Ilkley’s twin town, Coutances.
"Monies have also been raised for the remaining two benches and these will be fitted at the same time as phase two works are ongoing. All that is now needed is some warmer weather!"
