TWO local breweries are shipping some of Yorkshire’s most loved beers to Sweden.

Securing this deal means Ilkley Brewery and Saltaire Brewery are now shipping 75,000 bottles to the country. It’s wonderful news to start the year for both companies after a challenging year for the brewing industry in 2021.

From Saltaire Brewery, their ‘Best’ Classic British Bitter will be found in stores in Sweden. Made with all British ingredients, three malts, roasted barley and three hops - Admiral, Challenger and Goldings, and the most traditional recipe, their classic Best Bitter is a perfect balance of rich malt backbone with fruity hop notes. It’s sure to make an impact on Swedish beer culture, with demand increasing for not only British products, but particularly those from Yorkshire.

Ilkley Brewery are shipping their ‘Joshua Jane’ another nut-brown Yorkshire bitter. Representing everything that is great about the style – soft caramel from the combination of UK malts, and Ilkley’s unique hop characteristic in evidence through the blending of five UK grown hops; Brewers Gold, Archer, WGV, Minstrel and Fuggle. Named in reference to a traditional Yorkshire folksong On Ilkley Moor Baht’at about a young lady called Mary Jane walking on the local moors with her suitor. Mary Jane is the brewery’s best-seller, and Joshua her partner.
