A COLLECTION of goods for the Salvation Army will take place on Saturday, December 11between 10am and 11.30am at Addingham Methodist Church on Chapel Street, Addingham.

The Salvation Army has asked for Christmas treats for the homeless and vulnerable people they work with. People are asked to donate treats that will be distributed alongside food parcels the Salvation Army is making up. Items needed include Christmas cake bars and other cake bars, tins of ham, chocolates, sweets, and toiletries for men, women and children.

A church spokesperson said: "Please bring your donations to Addingham Methodist Church on Saturday morning, 11th December. There will be carol singing outside, and if you have a few minutes to spare, please pop into the Church Hall for a quick cuppa and a piece of cake. To keep us all safe a one-way system will be in place - directed by Santa! – and we encourage the wearing of face masks whilst moving about in the hall. Salvation Army supports families struggling to feed their children, people who are facing poverty because they have lost their jobs and livelihoods, homeless people trying to get back on their feet and older people in our communities who have never felt as lonely as they do now."

Addingham Methodist Church Minister, the Rev Shannon DeLaureal added: "We hope Addingham residents will respond with the same magnificent generosity as last year. Several car loads of Christmas goodies were transported to Keighley in support of salvation Army’s work with homeless and vulnerable people. Please join us again this year in spreading a little festive cheer."
