BRADFORD based Origin Fine Foods has bucked the national trend of shop closures and the pandemic to open brand-new premises in Otley.

Signing the lease and receiving the keys on November 30 director Jenni Weaver made the decision that December 1 was simply the best day to open, leaving her and her team just 12 short hours overnight to transform an empty shop into a thriving Yorkshire Deli.

Mrs Weaver said: “I’m not one to sit back and rest, but even I didn’t think we could do it! The dream for Origin Fine Foods was always to expand and open more branches, but the past 18 months have seen us pivot and adapt to meet our community’s needs. Covid 19 has changed my business beyond recognition and has seen our local community become champions for our small Deli in Clayton. When I spotted this shop in Otley, and discovered that the lease was available, I just knew I had to go for it! It’s been a challenge but I’m so pleased to have pulled it off, just in time for the Christmas shopping countdown.”

Origin Fine Foods Otley was opened by Otley Town Mayor Sylvia Thomson at 9am on December 1. Bringing Otley the finest Yorkshire sourced produce and an impressive offering of artisan gin and Yorkshire foodie treats, Mrs Weaver hopes to make her mark in this festive shopping period. Open right through to 6pm on December 23, you will be sure to find quality gifts for every budget. The team will even prepare you a handpicked Christmas hamper for those harder to please family members.

Councillor Thomson said: “Thank you for inviting me here this morning and welcome to Otley, Jenni and your team. You’ve obviously worked really hard getting the shop ready for opening this morning. The window looks wonderful and I can’t wait to see inside the shop.
