THE FUTURE of Horsforth's Forum 2000 is looking secure after volunteers came forward to keep the group going.

The way ahead for the forum was discussed as its AGM in October after it was announced that the team of chair, treasurer and programme coordinator would not be in a position to continue after 2021. Younger members were urged to come forward to take on the roles.

Now the group's spokeswoman Hilary Taylor has said: "When the first talk of the Autumn Programme began things were not looking too good for the future of the Forum. After the AGM however several members volunteered but did not know what they could do. As the weeks have passed however George Nicol one of the organisers over the years, laboured at his computer and every volunteer was given a blank ready to build up the Winter Programme and a list of all the topics from the old programmes. With these to help each person undertook to book a speaker. Hopefully they will be able to publish a programme by December 8."

She said Forum 2000 had made an invaluable contribution since 1978 to Horsforth, both intellectually and in its contribution to very many charities.
