A cheque for £1,500 has been presented to the local branch of Shelter by the Jigsaw team from Christchurch, The Grove, Ilkley. The donation is part of the proceeds from the recent 7th Jigsaw Festival.

The presentation was made to Simon Boothman by the Jigsaw team’s co-ordinator, Malcolm Atkinson, accompanied by other members of the team, John Sayers, Juliet Amos and Tina Davies. Simon Boothman, amazed at the donated amount, expressed appreciation for the donation. He was confident it would make a huge difference to their work. The £5,061 proceeds from the 7th annual Jigsaw Festival are being shared with Christchurch and Christians Against Poverty, a charity offering support and advice to people struggling with debt. Planning has already begun for the 8th Jigsaw Festival (27, 28 and 29 October, 2022). From modest beginnings, the annual Jigsaw Festival has expanded to involve the wider community and has the support of some major producers of jigsaws.

Volunteers are always welcome. Completed jigsaws can be donated to Christchurch - for handing in on Wednesday mornings or at the weekly Jigsaw Club (Friday evenings from 6.30 - 9pm). Alternatively, anyone is welcome to collect puzzles and cards on which to do them from Christchurch to while away the long winter evenings. Any questions about how best to help can be addressed to 01943 608479, 01943 608426 or 01943 602873.
