RESIDENTS in Ilkley will be able to take part in a virtual Halloween trail by downloading an app on their phone.
The Discover Ilkley app, which is free to download will contain an augmented reality trail for children, where they can walk around the town and ‘catch’ colourful Halloween characters such as ‘mysterious monsters, ghoulish ghosts and creepy characters from the moors’.
Parents and carers can get involved too, or enjoy a spot of shopping while looking for the ghoulish creatures.
The app uses GPS so that users can navigate around the town virtually, and also has the function to take videos of family and friends with the AR characters in the scene.
There is also an ‘Adopt a Character’ feature so that the app users can ‘take the characters’ home for more Halloween fun with them.
The Discover Ilkley app is available to download from the app store, and the
Halloween trail will be available until November 21, 2021.
The app has been developed as part of Ilkley BID.
Devices will require AR-Core Capability.
It is suitable for children aged four and over.
