BRAMHOPE'S Tredgold Avenue Post Office is to re-open on November 24 after being closed for two and a half years.

The branch has been temporarily closed since May 2019 following the resignation of the postmaster.

Announcing the re-opening a Post Office spokesman said: "I know that the local community will join me in welcoming this good news and hope that you and our customers will continue to use this service."

The village had already been without its own Post Office for ten years before a new branch opened within the Christalya corner shop, on Tredgold Avenue, in early 2018.

That branch closed in May, 2019, and last year the Post Office gave an update which said that attempts to provide an alternative service havd proven unsuccessful.

At the time Adel and Wharfedale councillor Barry Anderson said: “It is important that places like Bramhope have a Post Office, rather than people having to get in their cars and go somewhere else; and not just for the climate change agenda."

"As a local councillor I am hoping one of the local businesses will come forward as a possibility. If there are none, then a Post Office is lost to Bramhope."
