PEOPLE in Ilkley are being asked to turn their thoughts to Christmas and help design an advent calendar.

Following the success of ‘Peeping In’ which was held in the Manor House at Christmas 2020 the creative team of Louise Hepworth-Wood, Joanne Tinker and Lorraine Dowson have been exploring ideas for Christmas 2021.

Using the beautiful windows on the façade of the house the plan is to create a real-life advent calendar and they are hoping the community will get behind the scheme.

The team said: “The theme is ‘The Manor House through Time’ and though Christmas still feels a long way off we are asking the community for help with creating the images behind each of the 23 windows of the calendar. Window 24 will be the front door”

Families, couples, or individual are being invited to think about the question: ‘What does Christmas mean to you? - and take a photo of themselves and send it to Louise Hepworth-Wood at louisehepworthwood@yahoo.co.uk. They are also asked to add just three words to the email capturing what the festive season means to them.

The team said: “If your image is selected, Louise will then draw you maybe in medieval finery, Victorian or maybe even in futuristic attire. You will then be able to see you and your family in the Manor House windows and in the paper advent calendar that will be for sale, too. We will use your three words to create a haiku poem to go with each window image that is created. The deadline is August16.
