POLICE have launched an appeal after a 78-year-old was pinned down while his house was ransacked by robbers.

The elderly man was in his home, in the Seacroft area of Leeds, when two men broke in shortly after 5pm on May 26.

He was pulled from his chair by the legs, but challenged the two suspects.

He was then pinned to the floor and searched while his home was ransacked.

A number of bank cards were stolen.

Police have released images of two men they would like to speak to in relation to the robbery.

Detective Sergeant Ciaran Burns, of Leeds District Crime Team, said: “This was a particularly nasty incident targeting a vulnerable elderly victim in his home.

“We are keen to identify and arrest both these men, who we believe have links to the Middleton area, and we would like to hear from anyone who recognises them.”
