ILKLEY Soroptimists took part in their International Day of Action highlighting awareness of climate change.

The Ilkley club chose to litter pick on Saturday, July 17 around the town centre.

They collected bags full of waste which was mostly plastic.

After the litter pick some of the Ilkley Club members stopped to admire their flower bed on The Grove. This bed with blue and yellow flowers has been planted to mark their special year because Soroptimists around the globe are celebrating the beginning of their organisation 100 years ago.

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) has 6000 members in 270 clubs in 18 countries including Great Britain, Ireland and countries in Asia, the Caribbean and Malta, who work at a local, national and international level to educate, empower and enable women and girls. Climate change was the theme for the Day of Action.
