WHEN Jo and Andrew Cochrane decided to move home they were certain they’d be buying another old, character property, but after two visits in one day to Bellway’s St John’s View in Menston their heads had been well and truly turned by the one thing they least expected – a new build home.

“Andrew and I have always lived in old homes and not for one second did either of us think we’d consider new build,” said Jo. “But then our son Elliott bought a Bellway home in a lovely development in Adel and when I saw how happy he was with it, it really got me thinking.

“As a result, I arranged to visit Bellway’s St John’s View in Menston and as soon as I saw the plans for the Kettlewell I was in love. I phoned Andrew straight away and we went back together during his lunchbreak. By the end of the day we’d made a reservation.”

The Kettlewell is a five-bedroom home that consists of an open-plan kitchen, dining, and family area; separate living room and study, and en suite shower rooms to two bedrooms. There’s also a large family bathroom, downstairs WC, dedicated utility room and detached garage.

“It’s fair to say I had very preconceived ideas about new homes, but Bellway has changed them all,” added Jo. “The build quality is exceptional, and my expectation of small rooms with low ceilings was all wrong. We have large, airy, beautifully designed rooms with lovely high ceilings, which give the whole house a wonderfully traditional feel – all with much, much lower running costs than our draughty old home.

“In fact, the highest praise I can give Bellway is that after we moved I didn’t for one second miss our old home in Horsforth – this really is my dream home.”

Being built on Bingley Road on the outskirts of Menston, St John’s View has a rural outlook and will comprise 133 three, four and five-bedroom semi-detached, detached and town houses when complete.

Prices on the development currently range from £306,995 to £525,995.

“St John’s View is one of my favourite ever developments because it offers the best of all worlds,” said Bellway Yorkshire’s sales manager, Paula Murdoch.

“Its location looks and feels rural, with the wide, open space of Ilkley Moor just minutes away; while in the opposite direction the village centre has a lovely selection of local amenities and, of course, its own train station with direct links to Leeds, Bradford and Ilkley. And if that wasn’t enough, nearby Guiseley has supermarkets, a retail park and various dining and leisure options.”
