BRADFORD Council’s Director of Public Health is urging residents to get tested for coronavirus as numbers of the Delta variant first identified in India continue to rise across the district.

Anyone can go along to one of the pop-up sites and Mobile Testing Units across the district and get a test. The tests are free and you do not have to book an appointment.

This weekend the pop-up sites will be at Richard Dunn Sports Centre, Bradford, BD5 8NA and Whetley Mills Car Park off Hockney Road, Bradford BD8 9HQ.

Sarah Muckle, Bradford Council’s Director of Public Health, said: “I would urge people to take the opportunity to get a test even if they don’t have any symptoms. We want to help stop the new Delta variant from spreading further and I would ask everyone, across all our communities to protect themselves and their families by getting tested. Tests are simple and you don’t need an appointment.

“When you’re offered the vaccination, both doses, please take it up as soon as you can to help reduce the spread of the virus. We all need to follow the guidelines and protect our local community.

“While additional testing is underway, everyone is being asked to be extra vigilant for any COVID 19 symptoms. As with any variant of COVID-19, the guidance remains the same and we must all continue to regularly wash your hands, use face coverings when appropriate, keeping your distance from others when outside your house, and ventilate rooms with fresh air.”

If you or anyone in your household develops a high temperature, a new continuous cough and a loss or change to their sense of smell/ taste you should access a COVID-19 test as soon as possible.

Other testing sites are available seven days per week at:

Centenary Square, Bradford

University of Bradford

Victoria Hall, Keighley

Pudsey Civic Centre car park

And in addition on weekdays at Flockton Road car park, Shipley Pool car park and Richard Dunn Sports Centre.
