ANDREW Loy has been elected to Ilkley Town Council in a by-election, becoming the youngest-serving councillor.
The by-election in West ward was held due to the resignation of a Green councillor.
The results were: Andrew John Patrick Loy (Conservative and Unionist Party) 1,310 (63 per cent); Carol Patricia Martin (Labour Party) 757 (37 per cent). Turnout was 59 per cent.
Andrew said: “I am delighted to have been elected to the town council, especially with such a strong majority. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me along the way, most of all those who voted for me last Thursday.
“This result shows that residents want strong Conservative voices to represent their views and ensure they get value for money from the town council.”
* The annual town meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday, May 17, at The Clarke Foley Centre. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend this meeting which is arranged by the Town Council. Social distancing measures will be in place. If you have any queries, please get in touch with the clerk to the council clerk@towncouncil.ilkley.org.
