ADDINGHAM’S fourth family friendly Environment Weekend takes place this weekend - May 15 and 16.

This year the weekend will be out of doors and based on over 40 points of environmental interest around the village. The points of interest cover four themes: Wildlife Friendly Addingham, Sustainable Water, Zero Carbon and Zero Waste. There will be self-guided walks which can be undertaken at any time and activities each day from 10am to 4pm.

A spokesperson said: “Come and find out where the bats are in Addingham or how to recognise the Signal Crayfish. Come and see our developing wildflower meadows or an electric car being charged. Take part in “where does the waste go?”, see our environmentally friendly allotment or have a look at the microscopic life of Town Beck.

“There will be volunteers, information posters and QR codes at various points of interest as well as some Covid-19 safe activities and demonstrations. For the first time all the information will be available on smart devices via QR codes as well as being downloadable from our website.”

A printed leaflet is also available. The church field at St Peter’s Church is the headquarters of the weekend.
