From Adrian Naylor

IT has been a great honour and privilege to represent the people of Addingham, Silsden and Steeton with Eastburn as their District Councillor for the last 15 years. I would like to thank all those who have helped me over the years.

The role of District Councillor has been immensely rewarding and has provided a number of highlights some of which are.

In Addingham I have been able to help over 38 children appeal successfully to get the places of their choice in Ilkley Grammar or Addingham Primary . I have had the honour to be Chair of the Community Library for over 10 years saving it from closure and seeing it go from strength to strength. I have also been the co-chair of the Addingham Neighbourhood Plan which was adopted at public referendum and will help to prevent unwanted housing in Addingham.

In Silsden I have helped volunteers with the successful transfer of the Town Hall to community ownership and the volunteers at the Hive negotiate with Bradford to create a resource for young people at a time when Bradford has been cutting Youth Services Provision. However, I am most proud of ensuring the Silsden has a new Primary School to ensure that early years education remains in Silsden in a modern facility which can grow with the community. I will continue to work to help develop Silsden Park.

In Steeton with Eastburn I have worked to provide a solution to the parking issues surrounding Airedale Hospital and have been pressing to get the station car park expanded despite the delays from Bradford and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

It has been a rewarding experience to help these communities develop and grow and to support them when they have come up against real world challenges trying to ensure that we in Craven get our fair share of resources rather than just getting a disproportionately large number of houses without the infrastructure they require.

I congratulate my successor on his win and look forward to seeing how he delivers on his campaign promise to break free from Bradford as I have always found that it is important to follow through on campaign promises.

Yours Sincerely,

Adrian Naylor
