VOLUNTEER drivers are being sought by a charity which helps elderly people.

As AVSED (Aireborough Voluntary Services to the Elderly) is slowly starting to open its doors, it needs to recruit two or three more volunteer minibus drivers to enable it to help its members get to activities again after a long time at home.

Volunteer Engagement Officer Michelle Phillips said: “Our volunteer drivers are the friendly face that starts the day by bringing our members to our activities on our specially adapted minibuses. She asked volunteers to get in touch if they meet the following criteria and are able to commit to weekly or flexible driving.

•Aged between 30 and 69

•Hold a full clean UK driving licence for at least two years and are free from any DVLA medical restriction

•Free to help on a morning or afternoon through the week or available for ad-hoc driving

•Happy to follow COVID safe procedures

•Flexible and understanding to changes at short notice

She added:”We ask for our volunteer drivers to be a part of the AVSED team, understanding our aims and goals and working with the staff to make sure that each member arrives and leaves our activities feeling happy, safe, and included. If you can help and are willing to go through some training and a DBS check, please get in touch with Volunteer Engagement Officer Michelle on 0113 2501702 or email info@avsed.org.uk.”
