THE residents of St John’s Road in Ben Rhydding, ran an amazing 68 miles as part of their street marathon fundraiser on Saturday, April 24.
They raised £1,420 - 473 per cent over their target of £300 for Carers’ Resource, a charity which supports unpaid carers. Resident Claire Macina, who is a community fundraiser at Carers’ Resource, said: “Looking after someone can be tough, but you’re not on your own. Carers’ Resource is here to listen, to give expert information and advice, to champion carers rights and support carers to find new ways to cope.”
Among those who took part was 89-year-old Heather who has lived on the street for 53 years. She said: “Carers’ Resource were a great help to me when my husband had dementia. Their work is invaluable.”
