BANDS and music groups made up of Bradford's young people have met again for the first time in over a year.

Groups involved in Bradford Council’s Music and Arts Service finally got to play face to face again after Covid restrictions were lifted last week.

The brass bands, orchestras, rock groups and choir have been meeting online since April last year when the first lockdown happened.

The members of the groups, students from schools around the entire Bradford District, have enjoyed creative new ways of learning, adapting to the online environment. They have recorded virtual performances and some have taken part in online workshops.

But now these groups, including the Bradford Youth Brass Band, are being reunited to play together in person.

Carl White, Head of Service, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to meet and rehearse again in person.

"The students and staff of the Music Service have shown great resilience and dedication over the last 12 months and it’s wonderful to finally be able to make music together again.”

The Bradford Music and Arts Service runs groups throughout the week for most instruments, in addition to delivering instrumental lessons in schools.
