THE deadline has passed for candidates to register to stand at this year’s local elections.

The vote for the 2021 English local elections takes place on Thursday, May 6, with votes set to be counted over the weekend. Your local polling station should be listed on the polling card posted to your address, provided you are registered to vote.

Below is a list of candidates for Wharfedale and Aireborough wards in Leeds City Council:

Adel and Wharfedale: Caroline Helen Anderson – The Conservative Party; Chris Bridges – Labour Party; Lesley Jeffried – Green Party; Keith Michael White – Liberal Democrats.

Guiseley and Rawdon: Paul James Alderson – Conservative Party; Bob Buxton – Yorkshire Party; Nick Hodgkinson – Green Party; Tom Hollings – The For Britain Movement; Stuart McLeod – Liberal Democrats; Eleanor Frances Thomson – Labour and Co-operative Party.

Harewood: Dan Cook  – Liberal Democrats; Claire Anne Evans – Green Party; Samuel James Firth – Conservative Party; Michael Thomas Kennimar Millar – Labour Party.

Horsforth: Simon Mark Dowling – Liberal Democrats; John Garvani – Labour Party; Roland Gilmore – Yorkshire Party; Gideon Matthew William Jones – Green Party; Anne Patricia Mutch – Freedom Alliance. No Lockdowns. No Curfews; Jonathon David Taylor – Conservative Party.

Otley and Yeadon: Mick Bradley – Green Party; Claire Jane Buxton – Yorkshire Party; Stewart Peter Harper – Conservative Party; Sandy Edward Charles Lay – Liberal Democrats; Lucy Kathleen Nuttgens – Labour Party.

Labour currently control Bradford Council, holding 50 of the 90 available seats. 46 seats are needed for a majority.

The candidates contesting in Ilkley, Craven and Wharfedale wards in Bradford Council are:

Craven: Carroll, Val – Labour Party; Clarke, Peter William – Conservative and Unionist Party; Kaye, Peter John – Yorkshire Party; Mann, Paul Michael – Liberal Democrats; Naylor, Adrian Paul – Independent; Whitaker, Caroline – Green Party.

Ilkley: Brown, Ros – Green Party; Hawkesworth, Anne Gillian – Independent; Nunns, David – Conservative and Unionist Party; Scaife, George – Labour Party; Spoerry, Steve – Liberal Democrats

Two seats will be contested in the Wharfedale ward due to the resignation of Jackie Whiteley.
