KEIGHLEY Cricket Club have completed the important signing of Shahzada Khan.

An opening fast bowler, Khan brings with him a wealth of experience from his days playing with Derbyshire County Cricket Club as well as stints in the Derbyshire, Huddersfield and Nottingham Premier leagues.

He played for Derbyshire predominantly in their seconds from the 2010 season where he opened the bowling; his quick pace and nagging line and length proving to be a big hit.

Now 35 his most recent successes have come as a player at West Indian Cavaliers in the Nottingham Premier League where he took the bowling awards on several occasions as well as amassing an impressive 70 wickets in the 2019 season.

‘Shizzy’ as he is known is now looking forward to the next stage of his career by leading Keighley’s attack for the 2021 season in the Championship of the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League. With the delayed arrival of overseas starlet Muhammad Ul Haq due to the current Covid19 restrictions, the Lawkholme Laners moved quickly to strengthen their first eleven and are delighted in getting Khan to sign.

Shizzy was impressed with the positivity and strive around the club and its ambitions of wanting promotion to the Premier League. He sees the fabulous blend of youth and experience in the team as a bonus and cannot wait to start working with this teammates. He will go straight into the first eleven for their home game at Lawkholme against Bankfoot on Saturday 18th April.
