A CROSS was carried through the streets of Horsforth in a symbolic act of worship to mark Good Friday.
As churches continue to adapt to covid restrictions, the usual walk of witness where crowds gather to walk the cross down Town Street was replaced by the solitary act.
The Cross was carried from church to church between 7am and 9am remembering Jesus' walk to Gethsemane.
Once it arrived at the Grove Church Garden, from 9am to 3pm for the six hours of the crucifixion, Christians took turns to stand with the cross to remember, give thanks and prayer for the community. Each half hour, a candle was lit to remember those who have suffered through the pandemic and specific prayers were offered for the suffering of all in the world.
A service of readings, songs and reflections was live streamed on the Horsforth Churches You Tube Station.
Easter Sunday was celebrated in different ways by churches with some doing outdoor services.
