APPLICATIONS are now open for Chain Reactions, a project run by Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe.

Chain Reactions is a collaborative, cross-artform digital project that encourages participants to get creative and to inspire others.

There are three stages to the project:

Stage 1 – Five new pieces of work will be commissioned across a range of artforms, which will be made available to view online.

Stage 2 – People living across the Yorkshire region will be invited to respond to work featured in Stage 1, using a different artform than the original piece.

Stage 3 – The chain reaction will continue and people living across the Yorkshire region will be encouraged to respond to works produced in Stage 2.

Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe are looking for Stage 1 applicants to kickstart the project.

For Stage 1, they will commission five Yorkshire-based applicants to produce finished pieces of work for

a fee of £200. The work should respond to the theme of ‘Spark’ and can take any of the below artforms:

• Dance

• Spoken word

• Film

• Music

The Festival aims to bring literature and poetry of national significance to the widest possible audience and to showcase new work by emerging and mid-career writers.

The Festival is supported by Arts Council England and Bradford Metropolitan Council and is proud to work with the University of Leeds Cultural Institute as its Higher Education Partner.
