AN ILKLEY based natural dog treats business is attracting orders from across the country.

Sisters Georgia Barningham and Ashleigh Murphy founded Boss B Natural after reconsidering what went into dog snacks when one of their own pets became unwell.

Writing on their website at www.bossbnatural.co.uk, the pair explained: “Over the years we have continued to have dogs in our lives and in recent years we have become more and more interested in what they eat and how it affects them; both as young dogs, and old age pensioners.

“Currently the age range of the dogs in our family stretch from 7 months to 15 years. It became clear that what was left out of what we fed our dogs was just as important as what was put into their food. And so, Boss B Natural came about.”

Speaking to the Ilkley Gazette, 25 year old Georgia said: “It started when one of our own elderly dogs fell unwell and developed allergies.

“We began paying more attention to the ingredients in the treats we were giving our dogs, and what actual benefits it provided to them.”

The sisters started off by putting their two fields of expertise together - Ashleigh is a well-qualified dog walker while Georgia a marketer and entrepreneur - to research the market.

They found that there was a healthy demand for natural and specialised treats and supplements for dogs, along with eco-friendly toys and accessories.

Launched in October, the products featured on the website include items for all kinds of dogs including old and young, ‘super chewers’ and those with sensitive stomachs. Georgia and Ashleigh have also created personalised gift boxes for special occasions. And the sisters hope to launch a subscription service - consisting of eco-poo bags, recycled toys and natural treats - in the new year.

They said: “It is clear from the orders we have had, and feedback from customers, that they agree that natural treats and eco-friendly accessories are the way forward. We love receiving photographs and videos from customers showing their dogs diving into their deliveries.”
