MORE than £19,000 has been raised for this year’s poppy appeal in Aireborough despite the coronavirus.
Poppy appeal organiser Elsie Turner thanked everyone who had helped.
She said: “Thank you to everyone who supported the 2020 Poppy Appeal in Guiseley, Rawdon ,Yeadon.
“The schools did some super pebble painting, and craft poppies, and put them on display. In the poppy appeal honesty tables at Morrisons Guiseley donations were £7,510 and Morrisons Yeadon donations were £4,458. Other donations from schools, shops, pubs, and private donations made the grand total to date £19,700.”
She stressed: “This is very welcome to help our Armed Forces past and present.
Every poppy donation counts. Thanking you once again for not forgetting Remembrance.”
Unmanned poppy stalls were set up at Guiseley and Yeadon Morrisons to allow fundraising to go ahead whilst meeting Covid regulations.
