OTLEY is to benefit from a fifth year of festive free parking.
Fee-free parking will be available at the Beech Hill, Courthouse Street and North Parade car parks on the following Saturdays during the run-up to Christmas: November 28, December 5, 12 and 19.
The move is intended to encourage shoppers to buy their gifts locally and so give the town’s traders a much-needed boost following a tough year.
Councillor Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) was instrumental in arranging the scheme. He said: “Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic Otley’s shopping areas remain a vibrant place for people to visit at any time, but especially over the holiday period.
“We are pleased to announce the continuation of festive free parking to help alleviate people’s load a little at the end of what has been a difficult year for everyone. Leeds City Council’s continued support of the scheme is much appreciated.”
