AS part of the Government's support for business it has extended the furlough scheme throughout lockdown - but what does that mean for workers?

So how long will the scheme last?

Details are still being worked out but the Treasury has said 'until December'. This could change if the Government extends the lockdown.

How much of my salary will it cover?

Up to 80% of your salary to a maximum of £2,500 per month. Companies won't have to make a contribution but some may opt to top salaries up to 100%. They do need to cover pension and national insurance contributions, however.

Who is eligible?

You don't need to have been furloughed before in order to take part. However you do need to have been on your company's PAYE payroll on 30 October to be eligible.

Likewise, the furlough scheme is open to companies big and small regardless of whether they used it earlier in the year.

Can I work part-time?

Yes you can - you'll be furloughed for the days or hours you don't work.
