KEEN photographers are being invited to enter their best pictures into a competition aimed at raising funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

The ‘Yorkshire Photography Competition’, organised by volunteers from the Skipton Manorlands Fundraising Support Group, is open to all and will close on Monday, November 30.

Photos must be of Yorkshire and can be of scenery, wildlife, pets, seasons, or people and places. There is also a section for young photographers of under 16 years old, who can enter a picture in any of the categories.

Winners will receive yet to be revealed prizes donated by businesses in the area and their photographs printed in the Craven Herald.

The Skipton support group is asking photographers to donate a minimum of £3 to enter the competition, and all proceeds will go towards helping the hospice cope with this year’s expected £1.5 million shortfall as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Kelly Smith, chairman of the Skipton Manorlands Fundraising Support Group, said: “We hope that the competition will appeal to a huge array of people.

“Taking photos is so easy now with the quality of cameras on personal phones, we are really excited about seeing some of the amazing photos people have taken of our gorgeous county. We are limited with what we can do during these times to raise much-needed funds for the hospice so we encourage everyone to enter – let’s flood the photography competition Facebook page with stunning photos to cheer everyone up during these difficult times.”
