1ST BURLEY Brownies are crowdfunding to build a nursery classroom at Katiyo Primary School in Zimbabwe.
Over the years the brownies have raised more than £20,000 for the school, most recently sending £1,400 to pay for the construction of a new block of toilets. Their long term goal remains to build nursery classrooms for the youngest children who currently have their lessons outdoors or in the local church.
Covid-19 is affecting the brownies’ normal fundraising activities. The Christmas raffle normally raises between £700 and £1000 for the school in Zimbabwe. To replace this fundraising the brownie group has launched a Justgiving crowdfunding page and hope to raise as much as they can between now and Christmas for the school.
£1 pays for the materials to make 50 bricks, £8 buys a 50kg bag of cement. Donate if you can by visiting: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/katiyochristmasappeal
