AN online service providing confidential emotional and mental health support has been launched.

Qwell – commissioned by NHS Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), in partnership with Bradford Council – is for over-19s.

The free service – provided by Kooth – includes online chat sessions with experienced counsellors, which are available between noon and 10pm weekdays and from 6pm to 10pm weekends.

The initiative has been launched ahead of World Mental Health Day, on Saturday, October 10.

Sasha Bhat, head of mental wellbeing at NHS Bradford District and Craven CCG, said: “Providing easily-accessible online support is a great way to help make sure adults can improve their mental health and wellbeing when they may be anxious about reaching out.

“We need services such as Qwell that are available when people require them the most and at a time that suits them. The coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on people’s mental health so it is great to increase our offer of support.”

The service can be accessed at qwell.io.
