A COFFEE morning at Otley has raised more than £500 for a cancer charity.
Meg Morton organised the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event at her home, on Bradford Road, on Friday, September 25.
Meg, who is the Tower Captain for Otley Parish Church Bellringers, took a number of steps to make sure the fundraiser complied with the latest coronavirus restrictions.
That included limiting the number of people who could attend at any one time, using a booking system and a large table that could accommodate six visitors with adequate social distancing.
The coffee and cake sessions were also split into half hourly sessions throughout the day.
In the end £505 was collected for Macmillan Cancer Support which provides specialist health care, information and financial aid to people affected by cancer.
Meg said: “I’m really chuffed, and very grateful to everyone who contributed and donated so generously.”
