GUIDE Dogs have launched a new service specifically for children living with sight loss.
Buddy Dogs befriend visually impaired children while also helping to develop self-confidence, a greater sense of trust and wellbeing.
Though not Guide Dogs, they are friendly and well behaved animals that can help a child gain new skills and enjoy physical activity.
Volunteer Media Assistant for the charity’s West and North Yorkshire branch, Margaret Backhouse, said: “Buddy dogs are suited to children with a vision impairment between the ages of five and 18 years. They can be of huge benefit to a child and their family, but also need plenty of care and commitment throughout their lives.”
