OTLEY residents will soon be able to enjoy a visual reminder of the town’s lost Japanese Garden.
Once a popular venue for concerts and pageants, the gardens were part of the old Recreation Hall/Queens Hall complex that stood behind All Saints Parish Church.
Now local artist Molly Walsh is creating a mural on the wall in Church Lane, funded by Otley BID, which is designed to give a ‘glimpse back through time’.
Katie Burnett, from Otley BID, said: “This mural will hopefully give people something interesting to look at as they roam around, but also will remind/tell them about the Japanese Garden which used to be there at the turn of the last century. The finished mural will look like you are peaking through a broken down wall into the garden.”
