Members of the Ilkley-Coutances Town Twinning Committee enjoyed a successful event at Ilkley’s Real Food Market.
Useful contacts were made and £129 was raised for the committee’s funds to further the civic, social and commercial links. The event, which aimed to raise funds and awareness, featured a tombola - using a sanitised tongs and biscuit tin approach instead of the traditional drum.
One visitor to the stall was Ged Millward of Ilkley Cycle Club, keen to renew contacts from 2012, when the Club competed in the Duo Normand Race and won a trophy. His wish, as well as to travel to Coutances with the next group, is to invite Coutances cyclists for the Ilkley Town Centre race next year – which is seen as a great opportunity for Twinning’s profile-raising initiatives. Anyone interested should visit the Committee’s Facebook page or contact Judith Dunn on 01943 817588 or at judithmdunn@gmail.com
