MOBILE Covid-19 testing units are being put in place in the Bradford District for local people who think they may be infected with the virus.

New drive-in and walk-in mobile testing units are being set up at a number of locations from today.

People are advised to make an appointment before they arrive at the units, which are run by national coronavirus testing programme staff.

Test are available for anyone who has symptoms of Covid-19, such as a high temperature, a new cough, or a change in sense of taste or smell, or thinks they may have the virus.

The mobile units will be at the following locations:

Hanson Academy, BD2 1JP, on Monday August 10, and Tuesday August 11.

Holmewood Resource Centre, Fell Lane, BD22 6AB on Thursday August 13.

Keighley sports centre, BD21 3JN on Saturday August 8, Monday August 10, Friday August 14, Sunday August 16.

Manningham sports centre, BD8 8BA on Friday August 7, Saturday August 8, Sunday August 9, Monday August 10, Tuesday August 11, Wednesday August 12, Thursday August 13, Friday August 14,

Saturday August 15, Sunday August 16, Monday August 17, Tuesday August 18.

Myra Shay, BD3 8QX on Friday August 14 and Saturday August 15.

Pudsey Civic Centre, LS28 5TA (hosted by Leeds CC) on Wednesday August 12, and Thursday August 13.

Richard Dunn Sports Centre, BD6 1EZ on Saturday August 8.

A Bradford Council spokesman said: "Strict infection control measures will be in place to ensure the testing units are operated with the highest levels of public health safeguards.

"People who have symptoms of Covid-19 are not allowed to use public transport so those attending the centre will have to make their own way there

"A face covering will need to be worn, and social distancing must also be followed at all times, when at the site and while travelling to and from it.

"Bradford District’s first walk-in testing centre in Centenary Square in the city centre is still open. Appointments can be pre-booked or there are a limited number of drop-in tests and results should be made available within 24-72 hours.
