ILKLEY'S Denton Road swing bridge is being closed this weekend as part of efforts to prevent anti-social behaviour.

Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police have announced a temporary closure of the suspension bridge from today through until Sunday, August 9.

With good weather predicted the Riverside is likely to attract high numbers of visitors.

The council says the bridge will be temporarily closed as part of a proactive campaign to address issues of anti-social behaviour and in response to the concerns of residents.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: "Visitors are welcome to enjoy the area but we do ask that they act responsibly, observe requirements around social distancing and behave considerately by disposing of their litter correctly. Large volume bins are positioned throughout the park at most entry/exit points.

"We thank local residents for their patience and understanding as we seek to maintain a safe environment and encourage the respectful use of the area."
